Psychodynamic Therapy

The Mind

Life is often understood in looking back, and when we reveal the experiences of early life our current core fears and anxieties ask to be faced in order to change and grow. This is a path toward meeting yourself and meeting life anew, with courage, love and respect for all parts of you. As a psychodynamic therapist (in training), I am here to walk with you and support your journey of discovering all that is available to you in your life.

My passion is in bringing connection to the mind, body and spirit and engaging in soulful exploration of life.

The famous quote by Rumi "The wound is the place where the light enters you"acknowledges the possibility in finding the medicine, wisdom and strength needed to transform negative experiences into meaningful change. One way that we do this is through acknowledging and understanding our wounds and how they direct our present experience of life. We can't change the past, but we can change our relationship to it. For some, talking out loud is the starting place, for others, it begins in the body. We all have a vast inner world, which dictates the lens in which we see life, not all vision comes through the eyes. Much of this inner world is not known to us and yet it can impact all aspects of our life.

There is something tremendously healing that can happen when we build a therapeutic alliance grounded in compassionate care, trust and presence. I believe we can only know ourselves through relationship, and the concept of healing alone is outdated. I am skilled in helping you to uncovering unconscious patterns, working through interpersonal dynamics and thoughtfully guiding self-awareness practices to facilitate lasting change. I know that it's possible to find meaning, purpose and connection and that at times life can feel unbearable or void of vitality. Everyone needs a hand to hold while traveling on their personal journey. I am here for this, to hold your hand (metaphorically) while venturing into the possibilities of living in alignment with yourself and your purpose.

We all want to feel more present, empowered and connected to the vital energy of being alive. The space that I hold for you is a place to practice being most yourself, learning who you are, finding greater freedom to play, to be able to laugh and cry and explore all aspects of you, just as you are. Past trauma is so powerful that it prevents so many people from enjoying life, I am here to work in collaboration with you to honour the past but learn how to live in the present. Our work begins with what you need most in that moment. Longer term, our work together is to discover all that is yet to be known or reclaimed, the unknown mystery, perhaps the answer to finding peace, connection and joy.

How do we take responsibility for our unconscious world? This is at the root of what we do in this modality; gradually bringing into the light the parts that may not be known in conscious awareness so that over time you feel more awake, present to your feelings and emotions and can build a strong healthy relationship with yourself and with others.

A unique opportunity to work one-on-one with me

As part of my advanced training in psychodynamic therapy, I am offering sessions at a reduced rate of $50/hour—a rate set by my program and available only while I complete my final stage of certification over the next three years.

This is a rare opportunity to work deeply and consistently at an accessible rate, with someone who brings not only a rigorous psychodynamic training but also extensive experience in other therapeutic modalities that support the mind, body, and soul. My integrative approach is rooted in qualifications in yoga, meditation, sound therapy, mindfulness and trauma-trained care, offering a holistic and personalized path toward meaningful change.

Availability: I will be taking new clients in September 2025

Location: I am available for virtual sessions on zoom, over the phone or in person at 240 Manor Road E

Insurance: You may be eligible for private benefit insurance

Due to the specific nature of psychodynamic psychotherapy requirements through the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, if we work together in private practice you will not be able to join other offerings with me.

"Early in life we were vulnerable and easily overwhelmed. Eventually, the issue becomes not just who abandoned us and why, but how we avoid abandoning ourselves when faced with fears and the uncertainty of life again. In times of overwhelm, the deep self and soul within us also seeks to become more conscious to us. In the essential work of changing from within, each occasion of not abandoning ourselves liberates more of the divine spark that was sewn in our souls to begin with. The light we liberate within our souls also adds some life to a world in the process of transforming itself." - Michael Meade

what is psychodynamic therapy?

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is a form of talk therapy aiming to increase self-awareness, consciousness and understanding of how past experiences shape and inform present reality. This begins with building an alliance together and forming a strong therapeutic relationship.

The foundation of psychodynamics includes understanding that much of our mental, emotional and physical experience is anchored in societal, developmental and relational patters. Exploring both conscious and unconscious processes and past experiences allows for rich learning and self-awareness. This may allow the lens to shift, engaging in life in new ways with empowerment and compassion.

This work requires curiosity and courage, over time exploring the causes of what you might be experiencing in life and working through unresolved trauma, conflict, pain, fear, loss etc. When you know yourself better, you may experience greater spaciousness around what once felt debilitating, form deeper bonds, learn how to emotionally self regulate and also co-regulate. Ideally experiencing an increase in self-acceptance and love.

Holding Hands Outdoors

“Grief and love are sisters, woven together from the beginning. Their kinship reminds us that there is no love that does not contain loss and no loss that is not a reminder of the love we carry for what we once held close.”
― Francis Weller
