Psychodynamic Therapy
My passion is in working together in soulful exploration of life.
I am here to walk with you and support your journey of discovering all that is available to you in your life. We can't change the past, but we can change our relationship to it. For some, talking out loud is the starting place, for others, it begins in the body. My integrative approach is rooted a rigorous psychodynamic training as well as qualifications in Kundalini and Yin Yoga, meditation, sound therapy, mindfulness and trauma-trained care, offering a holistic and personalized path toward meaningful change.
The famous quote by Rumi "The wound is the place where the light enters you"acknowledges the possibility in finding the medicine, wisdom and strength needed to transform difficult experiences into meaningful change. One way that we do this is through acknowledging and understanding our wounds and how they direct our present experience of life.
The space that I hold for you is a place to practice being most yourself, learning who you are, finding greater freedom to play, to be able to laugh and cry and explore all aspects of you, just as you are. Past trauma is so powerful that it prevents so many people from enjoying life, I am here to work in collaboration with you to honour the past but learn how to live in the present. Our work begins with what you need most in that moment. Longer term, our work together is to discover all that is yet to be known or reclaimed, the unknown mystery, perhaps the answer to finding peace, connection and joy.
How do we take responsibility for our unconscious world? This is at the root of what we do in this modality; gradually bringing into the light the parts that may not be known in conscious awareness. Over time you may feel more awake, aware and present to your inner and outer world. You start to learn how to not get caught by patterns that hold you back and develop the capacity to build strong healthy relationship with yourself and with others.
This can be a path toward meeting yourself and meeting life anew, with courage, love and reverence for all parts of you.
Due to the specific nature of psychodynamic psychotherapy requirements through the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, if we work together in private practice you will not be able to join other offerings.

"Early in life we were vulnerable and easily overwhelmed. Eventually, the issue becomes not just who abandoned us and why, but how we avoid abandoning ourselves when faced with fears and the uncertainty of life again. In times of overwhelm, the deep self and soul within us also seeks to become more conscious to us. In the essential work of changing from within, each occasion of not abandoning ourselves liberates more of the divine spark that was sewn in our souls to begin with. The light we liberate within our souls also adds some life to a world in the process of transforming itself."

what is psychodynamic therapy?
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is a form of talk therapy aiming to increase self-awareness, consciousness and understanding of how past experiences shape and inform present reality. This begins with building an alliance together and forming a strong therapeutic relationship.
The foundation of psychodynamics includes understanding that much of our mental, emotional and physical experience is anchored in societal, developmental and relational patters. Exploring both conscious and unconscious processes and past experiences allows for rich learning and self-awareness. This may allow the lens to shift, engaging in life in new ways with empowerment and compassion.
This work requires curiosity and courage, over time exploring the causes of what you might be experiencing in life and working through unresolved trauma, conflict, pain, fear, loss etc. When you know yourself better, you may experience greater spaciousness around what once felt debilitating, form deeper bonds, learn how to emotionally self regulate and also co-regulate. Ideally experiencing an increase in self-acceptance and love.

“Grief and love are sisters, woven together from the beginning. Their kinship reminds us that there is no love that does not contain loss and no loss that is not a reminder of the love we carry for what we once held close.”
― Francis Weller
